Bucky Covington

Meghan & Jeff Rock!

So Bucky Covington played at the Pineapple Festival here on Friday night. Since I have an amazing friend (Meghan) who has an amazing brother (Jeff) Michael & I got the VIP treatment. We got to go on their tour bus & hang out with everyone after the concert. Everyone was so nice and we had SO much fun! So if you don't already have it go get Bucky Covington's album! And a BIG thanks to Jeff, Bucky, Rocky, & everyone else for showing us a great time Friday night!

P.S. Jeff is the lead guitarist for Bucky Covington & he pretty much rocks!

RIP, Tobin

Tobin Theodore Triebel of New Market (Lake Linganore), Maryland, died late Friday evening, November 7, 2008 at the University of North Carolina Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in pedestrian/motor vehicle collision.  Tobin was visiting the area with his family at the time of the accident. His immediate family and friends were with him until his passing.

Tobin was born on August 4, 1969 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Tobin’s family move

d to Lexington Park, Maryland in 1977 and he graduated from Great Mills High School in 1987 lettering in soccer and band.  He loved St. Mary’s County; boating and fishing. He attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) where he majored in Emergency Health Services (EHS) and received his Bachelors Degree in EHS and became Nationally Registered as an EMT-Paramedic.  While at UMBC he met the love of his life Susan (Sue) Shryock.  They were married and have two beautiful daughters Hannah (age 16) and Erika (age 13).  They moved to New Market in 1994 where they have lived ever since.

Tobin Triebel was a First Sergeant with the Maryland State Police and served the Department and the Citizens of the State with distinction during the past 13 years and 4 months; the length of his career with MSP.  First Sergeant Triebel was appointed to the 106th Trooper Candidate Police Academy Class in July 1995 and proved to be an exceptional Trooper, graduating in the top of his class.

He was initially assigned to the Golden Ring Barrack as a road trooper, and in 1996 was selected to join the Aviation Command where he worked as a Trooper/Flight Paramedic.  First Sergeant Triebel was a licensed Flight Paramedic in the Aviation Command, and at the time of his death was the Aviation Command Training Section Supervisor.  Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Western Region Supervisor overseeing the Frederick and Cumberland Aviation Sections, and had also previously been the Aviation Command’s Frederick Section Supervisor (Trooper 3).

Tobin will be remembered as a devoted dad and husband who lived for his family. He was his girls’ number one fan, from coaching Erika’s soccer team to announcing Hannah’s high school soccer games. He had a passion for rugby and played with the Frederick Rugby Club for fifteen years. He was known for being a rugged player that ran the ball fearlessly and tackled hard.

Tobin is survived by his wife Susan of seventeen years and daughters Hannah and Erika; mother Carolyn Triebel; father Theodore Triebel and step mother Cara; brothers Adam and Jacob; sisters Kristen and Gretchen, brother-in-law Daryl and niece Josephine.  Tobin is also survived by grandmother Dorothy McCaslin and his uncle and aunt Ed and Pat Cole and cousins, Bill, Hal, Cindy, Caren, Trish and their families of St. Mary’s County.

His extended family includes father and mother-in-law Wakeman and Norma Shryock of Hagerstown; brother-in-law Larry and wife Pat; sister-in-law Kelly and husband Todd; nieces Paige, Rachel, Emily, and Leah and nephew Nathan; and a host of friends that will surely never forget him.

Tobin’s final loving gesture was the gift of life through organ donation.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Monocacy Valley Church, 9861 Old National Pike, Ijamsville, MD  21754.

A memorial service will be held at the church on Friday November 14, 2008 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to MFPA Triebel Trust, PO Box 547, Cumberland, MD 21501-0547, for his daughters’ education.

Firefighters Peter Johnson and John Neary place a black cloth over the sign on the Maryland State Police helicopter hangar at Fredrick Airport on Monday afternoon.

Find of the Day

I ran in Home Goods today while I was out running errands to browse & found some of our Christmas dishes. I got 1 large platter & 2 small serving bowls for less than $13 total! Almost as good of a deal as we got on our Waterford, but not quite... :)
